Dental surgery

Almost everyone I know is scared of going to the dentist. What most of us don't understand is that dentistry is not that painful when you are under the effect of an anesthetic. Dental surgery involves all kinds of interventions that have to do with gum procedures, pulling teeth, root canals and even surgeries executed for cosmetic reasons. A qualified dentist has to train for about five years in an accredited dental college or school. After he has graduated he has to continue his training with some more specialized coursework.

What happens during an extraction?

An extraction is that specific dental surgery in which a tooth will be removed, including its root. A general practice dentist can easily perform the extraction and this type of dental surgery is usually required on a tooth that has infected roots. There is another case in which this dental surgery is being made for esthetic reasons, in case of on extra tooth or when the permanent tooth can't come out because of an old baby tooth. Another reason of the extraction could be the wisdom teeth and it's usually made because those teeth don't have enough room in the mouth cavity to come out, so they produce pain.

What exactly is a tooth replacement?

A tooth replacement is that certain dental surgery during which a broken or a damaged tooth is being replaced I am talking about broken teeth damaged in different kinds of accidents. When something like that occurs, the tooth should be immediately put in a glass of water with ice and taken to a dental surgeon, because if the root is saved, it is possible to get back your tooth through dental surgery. After you have suffered a tooth replacement, you might want to do a cosmetic dental surgery to give a retouch to your smile. Your dentist will decide if you need another surgery for that or if orthodontics is recommended.

The numerous benefits of dental care

Cosmetic dentistry can help you have a wonderful smile and not be afraid of displaying your teeth. There are various cosmetic procedures like porcelain veneers or the classic teeth whitening methods that can help you achieve a brilliant smile. If you want to have a healthy and beautiful dentition, besides paying regular visits to your dentist, you should watch your diet - avoid sweets and coffee when possible. Most importantly, if you are a smoker, try to quit or to decrease the number of cigarettes you are smoking each day, because cigarettes are very noxious to your teeth (as well as to your general health), braking down the calcium level and weakening the health of your teeth.
